As a part of the Bridge Builders® COLLABORATE program level, 800 students in grades 7-12 will connect with other youth from across the mid-south during week-long summer Leadership Conferences. The Bridge Builders® program uses experiential learning and adventure-based education to provide a learning environment that is both transformational and empowering for youth. BRIDGES is seeking six (6) AmeriCorps Member Resident Advisors (RAs) for 11th - 12th grade summer leadership conferences that will serve a minimum of 346 service hours from May 30, 2023 to August 1, 20223. Key responsibilities are as follows: Responsible for facilitating Bridge Builders® evening programming Debrief with day time Conference Facilitators to support participant learning and development Oversee nighttime supervision of participants during the 11th and 12th grade Leadership Conferences Members will learn the principles behind adventure education and the experiential learning cycle and will receive in-depth training in the Bridge Builders® program model and curriculum. As role models, leaders of discussion and activities, and nighttime supervisors, Resident Advisors are essential to the success of Bridge Builders® Leadership Conferences. The Service location sites are the BRIDGES Center and the University of Memphis. Members receive a living allowance of $3,000, paid in five bi-weekly payments.

Member Duties : Create and lead entertainment activities (Staff Follies, Bridge Builders® Tonight, skits, etc.) in collaboration with other Resident Advisors. Debrief with Conference Daytime Facilitator to support participant learning and development Resident Advisors are required to reside overnight in dorms and cabins during Conference sessions and assigned mandatory rotations scheduled between 11:00 pm - 6:00 am in 2 hour increments. During rotations, RAs must perform hall checks in 60-minute shifts and log as directed. RAs are required to stay on site and be available to students prior to the start of overnight rotations from 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm and at the end of the rotations from 6:00 am - 7:00 am. Responsible for morning wake-up and evening bed check. Lead dorm meeting on the first night of conference. Write a weekly reflection detailing facilitation experiences and student/team dynamics to reflect with conference group and staff. Attend afternoon member meetings at start of shift.
