Position Overview

The Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Corrections Supply Supervisor I within the Correctional Center. The ideal candidate will help ensure that the center's inventory is accurately recorded and distributed to organizations within the facility, help supervise individuals in custody, and prepare applicable inventory reports. We strongly encourage all qualified candidates to apply.


Job Responsibilities

1. Receives, checks, stores, prices and distributes merchandise for all stores.

2. Maintains records for the various store purchases for clear audit trail identifying the flow of equipment and commodities through receiving, distribution, reassignment.

3. Monitors and coordinates the work assignments of individuals in custody for proper preparation of receiving reports, posting receiving reports and requisitions to perpetual inventor system.

4. Monitors storage, distribution, and warehouse use of caustic or toxic substances for compliance with safety and sanitation procedures for all areas.

5. Operates copy machine and automated systems in order to account for all goods movement.

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school or completion of an approved training course.

2. Requires two (2) years of experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.


Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

1. Prefers thorough knowledge of institutional rules, regulations and requirements for the control of individuals in custody.

2. Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience ordering supplies, processing invoices, and distributing materials to work locations.

3. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in a professional setting applying elementary knowledge of professional accounting, auditing, and/or methods and procedures.

4. Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience with SAP platform.

5. Prefers the ability to prepare reports of unusual happenings, accidents, or violations of rules by employees or residents and operation reports.

6. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience communicating effectively using both verbal and written skill relaying specific job instructions.

7. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in a professional setting performing detailed work involving written and numerical data.


Conditions of Employment

1. Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.

2. Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the department will continue to enforce the zero-tolerance drug testing policy. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.

3. Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six (6) months of employment.

4. Requires the ability to lift and carry boxes and containers of supplies, commodities, merchandise, and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

5. Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.
