The Director-Healthcare Construction for Healthcare provides oversight and management for construction projects for Loma Linda University Shared Services and all of LLUH’s healthcare services. Works with the Vice President for Planning, Design and Construction and the Senior Vice President for Finance, to lead the Planning, Design and Construction department in executing strategic plans, in relation to planning, design and construction, by establishing priorities and determining resource allocation for efficient and effective delivery of all planning, design or construction projects.. Facilitates development processes that allow efficient processing of projects. Coordinates staffing for planning, design and construction projects in accordance with established priorities. Reviews and approves purchases of goods and services as authorized by policy and CFO. Adheres to schedules, budgets, and ensures customer satisfaction at all times. Performs other duties as needed.


Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology or related field required. Master's Degree preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum five years healthcare planning, design, and construction management experience required. Experience with HCAI is preferred. Experience in a leadership role with direct reports is preferred. Valid Driver's License required at time of hire. California Contractor's License preferred.


Knowledge and understanding of basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections. Knowledge of building, licensing, and other pertinent codes. Knowledge of technical construction. Familiarity with clinical operations and functions in order to translate into strategic facility initiatives. Knowledge of and familiarity with the capital budgeting process required. Able to interpret regulatory codes and standards, technical plans and operating instructions, and schematic drawings. Able to utilize software programs such as AutoCAD. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access); operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
