JOB SUMMARY

This job is in the Quality Department, which includes positions the duties of which are to perform, administer, or advise on work concerned with assuring the quality of Fry Steel’s products The work of this series involves the development of plans and programs for achieving and maintaining product quality throughout the item's life cycle, monitoring operations to prevent the production of defects and to verify adherence to quality plans and requirements, and analysis and investigation of adverse quality trends or conditions and initiation of corrective action. The duties of these positions require analytical ability combined with knowledge and application of assurance principles and techniques, and knowledge of pertinent product characteristics and the associated manufacturing processes and techniques.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for providing quality control support and record keeping as part of the company’s quality control process.
  • ISO 9001/AS9120 quality system experience preferred.
  • Assists with the implementation of quality improvement strategies and initiatives for the company.
  • Inspects various products for defects in material and nonconformance during processing.
  • Inspects materials after processing following procedures to ensure it is properly prepped.
  • Maintains accurate and current documentation of testing procedures and results using appropriate tracking mechanism(s).
  • Assist in onsite & desktop quality audits to ensure compliance.
  • Review Quality Clauses, NDA’s, customer term and conditions for compliance.
  • Assists with maintaining compliance with company policies and quality procedures.
  • Prepares required results and/or information and assists with inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Retrieves files and product quality information as needed for reviews and Quality staff.
  • Prepares documents/records for review, duplication, and distribution as appropriate.
  • Responsible for filing documents and maintaining their confidentiality and security.
  • Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

SALARY: $75k - $85k / Depending on Experience


Required Skills
  • 5-10 plus years of quality control or relevant manufacturing / operations experience required.
  • High School diploma/GED required. College degree preferred.
  • Understanding of basic concepts and principles pertinent to raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective processing and distribution of material required.
  • Basic understanding of company product(s) and their uses required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
  • Arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers as well as internal/external customers required.
  • Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications required.
