Health Benefits is seeking an ESR Supervisor. The ESR Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of a team of ESRs enabling the team to meet its client and corporate commitments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, successful achievement of team quality, service expectations, and staff development. Provide direction and assist to resolve escalated issues and to ensure all department goals are achieved.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage, monitor, track and report performance of the ESRs to ensure we achieve inventory turnaround time, quality and service objectives. Assign work and adjust as needed based on staff availability and business need.
  • Handle personnel matters, including mentoring, coaching, motivating, performance management and feedback, recognition, performance evaluation and time tracking of direct reports.
  • Provide input into compensation and promotion increases.
  • Regularly communicate with the ESRs via Team meetings and one-on-one meetings with team members.
  • Mentor and develop leaders within team.
  • Assess any onboarding and ongoing training needs and collaborate with the Training Department, as necessary. Timely and effectively implement new policies and procedures.
  • Handle questions using internal and external resources as needed.
  • Resolve client, member, or provider issues regarding escalated or complex claims.
  • Interface and collaborate with Client Management Team and other internal departments to ensure client expectation and quality of service are met.
  • Effectively communicate and advise staff on any changes and updates related to their clients.
  • May participate in client meetings on occasion.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3-5 years claim processing experience
  • Self-directed individual who works well with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with Client Managers, Clients, Brokers, employees/members, providers, including other internal departments and all levels of staff
  • Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form
  • Ability to effectively deal with problems in varying situations and reach resolution
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs)
  • Flexible; open to continued process improvement
  • Ability to learn new/proprietary systems, to adapt to various system platforms, and to effectively use MS Excel/Word

The compensation range for this ESR Supervisor role is $40,392 to $75,845. The salary offered will vary depending on your job-related skills, education, knowledge, and experience. This role aligns with an annual incentive bonus plan.
