We are looking to add several freelance authors (up to 10 hours per week) to our team to provide actionable information about starting or growing a business.
We are picky when it comes to our content, but we are a small team and value flexibility, family, and enjoying the work we do. Thousands of readers will use your articles (maybe even friends, family, or people in your community) to help them in their business journey. It’s rewarding to know that the work you do helps people achieve their dreams.
What are we looking for?
Business Experience – Writers MUST have hands-on experience with advising or coaching small businesses (with a preference for current or previous SBDC, SCORE, etc.). If you have relevant experience, we may include an author bio, publishing under your name.
Quality Writing – For the person with business experience, you are NOT required to have experience in being an author (though it would help), but you will need to be able to be confortable getting into the weeds of small business and be able to able to effectively entrepreneurship topics. We will train you on our specific methods of producing content, even if you don’t have experience. The important thing is that you write clear, actionable, fluff-free text. We also take research and proper sourcing extremely seriously.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on various topics to gather information for writing assignments
- Produce high-quality written content in a timely manner
- Edit and proofread written materials for grammar, punctuation, and style
- Collaborate with team members to develop creative and engaging content
- Fact-check information to ensure accuracy and credibility
- Adapt writing style to meet the needs of different projects and target audiences
